Wigan Council deploys new redeployable CCTV capability
Revader Security has supplied a fleet of 4G rapid redeployable CCTV cameras to Wigan Council, based in Greater Manchester, UK, for the purposes of town centre surveillance and security. The mobile surveillance units augment a network of over 500 fixed cameras used across some 77 square miles and a population of over 300,000 people.
Revader’s range of mobile cameras are ruggedised outdoor surveillance solutions which have been proven over many years to deter crime and secure the vital video evidence necessary for prosecution.
The CCTV control team at Wigan Council is able to regularly re-position each camera around the town to respond to the movement of crime hotspots, antisocial behaviour, vandalism and public events. As the units can be installed in virtually any location within minutes, only minimal planning and notice is required.
Each unit delivers live and recorded footage to the council’s CCTV control centre over a combination of wired, wireless and mobile networks and are powered by a variety of sources, including mains and battery.
The mobile CCTV solutions were supplied through specialist installer Baydale Control Systems based in Darlington, County Durham.
Wigan Council has reported extremely positive results since the deployment of the cameras, including reduced instances of antisocial behaviour and crime and vital evidence retrieval following incidents, resulting in successful criminal prosecutions.
Terry Derbyshire, Technical & Projects Officer at Wigan Council said: “The redeployable cameras are always in high demand and have made a significant impact in effectively implementing our surveillance capability across the Authority. They are straightforward to install, easy to use and are built to an exceptional standard. I would recommend them highly.”
Revader Security continue to work in partnership with Baydale Control Systems to support Wigan Council and a variety of other clients in the public and private sector.
